Watch With has been holding virtual watch party events as a way to get fans excited about movies during the pandemic and connect with fellow enthusiasts. On Saturday, Jan. 23, Watch With will host a The Evil Dead watch party, with star Bruce Campbell on hand to offer his commentary.
Their unique way of holding a watch party is by putting control of the movie into the hands of some of the creatives who were involved, allowing writers, directors or actors pause the film to discuss key scenes.
“Have you ever dreamed of watching your favorite movie with the star from that flick? Now is your chance to hand over the remote control to the stars and let them guide you through your faves like you have never experienced it before,” the official Watch With web page explains. “Join the celebrity watch party and relive the movie through the eyes of the star – pausing the action to explain scenes, tell unknown stories about the action, or provide funny tidbits of trivia… straight from the source.”
Campbell, who played Ash Williams in Sam Raimi’s cult classic, will share his memories, stories, and anecdotes from the film. The actor will also answer questions from fans that pop in during the chat while viewers are watching.
The Watch With folks also tease that Campbell will share details about the newest film in the franchise, the upcoming, Evil Dead Rise.
“Rebooting can be very confusing and frustrating and not always successful. Reboot, sequel, remake; we have all these crazy terms,” Campbell told AL.com last fall. “What we’re doing now is we’re saying, ‘Look, this is another Evil Dead movie and that book gets around, a lot of people run into it and it’s another story.’ The main key with Evil Dead is they’re just regular people who are battling what seems to be a very unstoppable evil, and so that’s where the horror comes from.”
In the new Evil Dead movie, Campbell explained there will be a heroine in charge, and she’s going to try and save her family.
