SPOILER ALERT
The Mandalorian’s second season certainly ended with some shocking reveals (stop reading now if you haven’t watched!) and also confirmed what some astute fans have been expecting all along—Boba Fett will be getting his own spinoff show next December on Disney+.
A post-credit scene at the conclusion of the episode announced the new spin-off series, The Book of Boba Fett, which will be centered around the iconic bounty hunter, who was re-introduced as being very much alive this season on The Mandalorian.
The finale set up the new show perfectly. With his debt to Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) paid, Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) returned to the palace of Jabba the Hut and came face-to-face with Bib Fortuna, who now runs the late criminal’s affairs.
Boba Fett teams with Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) to kill everyone in the place, except for the Twi’lek pleasure girl, and assume the throne, ready to become the leaders they feel destined to be.
Both actors are expected to be in the new series, though little else is known about the show.
Some fans are worrying that the Boba Fett show could replace The Mandalorian rather than serve as a complement, but with its incredible success, that seems unlikely.
The Book of Boba Fett isn’t the only Lucasfilm Star Wars project coming to Disney+. Just last week at a special investor-related event, Disney unveiled plans for The Mandalorian spinoffs of Ahsoka Tano and Rangers of the New Republic.
