During the panel, Vietti spoke about the idea. “I think it was Bruce Timm who said, ‘You know, one of the most famous interactive audience choice moments was around the death of Robin [in] the Death in the Family stories. That’s where they looped me in,” explained Vietti. He also mentioned “branch storytelling”.

“It won’t play like a video game. There’s one big branch that’s 20 minutes. There are several others that are seven minutes long. There’s one that’s 30 seconds.”

There will be new characters along with expanding the roles of previous characters.

“You’ll see some that were in the original Under the Red Hood movie but just didn’t have a big role,” teased Vienetti. “One of the characters I was pretty excited about bringing in is Talia al Ghul. I wanted to give her a little more importance in the story. [We] also brought in Two-Face, who actually does have a pretty important role in Jason Todd’s backstory.”

It was a 4-issue comic book storyline published by DC Comics in 1988. The story follows Jason Todd/Robin’s quest to be reunited with his birth mother after being relieved of his duties by Batman. During his journey, however, the Joker kidnaps and tortures him.

Dick Grayson’s replacement, Jason Todd, was an impulsive, foul-mouthed version of Grayson. Acting on impulse and was temperamental. He had grown very unpopular with readers. Being aware of this, editor Dennis O’Neil for 36 hours, allowed readers to call two numbers to cast a ballot to on whether Todd should live or not.

Upon its publication, A Death In The Family attracted mass media attention. Though some were critical, it became an iconic storyline in Batman’s comic book history. Now Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are set to bring it back again in an interactive, animated feature film on Blu-ray.
