Dwayne Johnson and DC fans finally got to see the first Black Adam teaser trailer earlier this week. Along with the action-packed scenes with Johnson’s Teth-Adam, the trailer also revealed the Justice Society of America. One the JSA members is Atom Smasher who is played by Noah Centineo. After seeing Centineo’s Atom Smasher, fans are now talking about the striking resemblance to Deadpool’s costume.
A lot of comic book fans think that Atom Smasher’s costume looks a lot like the Merc With A Mouth. With a long-awaited trailer with an A-list star attached to it, there’s going to be a lot of eyes paying close attention to details. Well-known DC characters such as Hawkman (Aldis Hodge)and Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) also made the trailer. Of course, social media was quick to trend regarding the Atom Smasher and Deadpool costume similarities.
According to producer Hiram Garcia, Black Adam has Superman level powers. “The big screen version of him is he’s very true to the comic books,” explains Garcia to Comicbook.com. “He is very, very powerful. I mean, however class tier you want to put it, but he’s like… what did you say, plus 100 tons easy. You know what I’m saying? He’s Superman level powers for sure, with a magic aspect to it. Super speed, electricity, extremely invulnerable, the whole thing. He’s the full gamut like you would see in the comic books and he is a presence that when it comes into the DC universe, he gets everyone’s attention.”
We’ll most likely hear some jokes from Deadpool himself about this Atom Smasher costume comparison eventually but here are a few below from fans on social media.
