The first Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer dropped today and it showed Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and his loved ones going into the Quantum Realm. They’ll have to figure a way out of this dimension that looks to be one of the many realities conquered by the next Avengers big bad, Kang the Conqueror.
Set with Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer establishes the movie is going to be a family affair. Along with scenes full of color and vast wildlife, the Quantumania trailer also reveals a highly advanced megacity populated by millions of microscopic people. Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer) explains where they are while it cuts to Hope (Evangeline Lily) asks “what are you so afraid of?”
In time, Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, reveals himself looking like royalty with his entourage. A variant of Kang was introduced in Loki’s season finale on Disney+. After watching the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer, it’ll be interesting to see this variant from the Quantum Realm and what his true intentions are after telling the Ant-Family he can help them get out.
If this is truly the Kang the Conqueror that is set to go toe-to-toe with the new Avengers in 2025, one wonders what exactly will happen to Scott and the others.
The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lily as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne, Jonathan Majors as Kang. Bill Murray also joins Quantumania in an undisclosed role only described as an “old friend.”
“Some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project. But for me, the thing was quite clear: I got to know the director – and really liked him very much,” Murray told German magazine Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung of his secret MCU role. Murray plays “old friend” of the original Wasp, who spent 30 years trapped in the Quantum Realm.
Marvel Studios revealed the synopsis for the third Ant-Man film: “In the film, which officially kicks off phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.”
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premieres in theaters February 17, 2023. You can watch the trailer below:
