The second Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings trailer has Marvel fans freaking out over the reveal of Abomination returning to the MCU. To add to that, we can see a Master of the Mystic Arts fighting him. We can only presume that it’s Wong, a fan-favorite introduced in the first Doctor Strange film. If it really is Wong, now we know what he does when he’s not at the sanctum sanctorum.
The Shang-Chi trailer left Marvel fans with quite a lot to be excited about and we’re expecting a lot of action and martial arts magic in this film. Then the reveal of Abomination fighting (who could be Wong) was the icing on the cake.
Abomination was revealed to make his return as the villain in the She-Hulk series on Disney+. Now, it looks like he’ll be making his return to the MCU even earlier. We last saw Captain Emil Blonsky a.k.a. Abomination in 2008’s Incredible Hulk when Bruce Banner was still played by Edward Norton. Tim Roth played the role of Blonsky and will also return to play the villainous role in the She-Hulk series.
We last saw Wong saving space and time with the Avengers in Avengers: Endgame. Maybe during his spare time, he’s practicing his skills in this Marvel fight club until he makes his return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But remember, the first rule of Fight Club is there is no fight club.
Perhaps the two cameos tie Shang-Chi to the larger MCU in some way, but the appearance of the fight has the two trending on the internet as fans celebrate the return of Abomination and fans speculating about the scene’s involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi who, who must confront his past he thought he left behind. Joining Liu are Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan. Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Ronnie Chieng also star in the film.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to premiere in theaters this September 3rd. We’ll have to wait until then to see who wins between Abomination and Wong. See the latest Shang-Chi trailer.
