Sony Pictures Entertainment released a new trailer for the upcoming zombie film Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City — the next live-action film based on the popular Sony Playstation horror video game.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City Will Go Back To Its Video Game Roots
From the footage of the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer, this reboot for the film side of the franchise, looks like it’s full of throwbacks from the original Resident Evil video game. It takes place in Raccoon City. The regular game characters such as Clair Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon Kennedy, and Chris Redfield are all featured. Again, the Umbrella Corporation seems to be the heart of the conflict. The main characters look like they’ll be spending some time trying to survive inside a creepy mansion. A scene straight from the original Playstation video game.
Official Synopsis:
In RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY, once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland…with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.
Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City stars Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine and Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield. Joining them are Donal Logue, Tom Hopper, Avan Jogia, Neal McDonough, Lily Gao, and Chad Rook. The reboot film is directed by Johannes Roberts.
The reboot continues the release of multiple Resident Evil properties, which closes a good year for fans of the franchise. Capcom released the Resident Evil Village back in May, and the Netflix’s Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness premiered in July.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is now premiering November 24th in theaters only.
