The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer is officially here after a time of waiting, speculations, and leaks on social media. While we only got a look at one Peter Parker, the possibilities of cameos and appearances from past Spider-Man films are endless. For sure, Doctor Strange is more than just a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The third Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe picks up in the wake of Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Peter Parker’s identity was exposed by Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer reveals that Peter asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to cast a spell that will have everyone forget that he’s Spider-Man. Ignoring Wong’s (Benedict Wong) warning, Strange attempts to cast the spell, but things go awry and what follows looks like a multiversal collision.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer Teases Villains From The Past Films

The earliest hints of a Spider-Man multiverse is when J.K. Simmons reprised his role as J. Jonah Jameson in a post-credit scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Simmons played the Daily Bugle editor-in-chief in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker.

Then more rumors started to leak like Jamie Foxx coming back as Electro — the villain from Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Following that was Alfred Molina reprising his role as Dr. Otto Octavius from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2. We also got a glimpse of Green Goblin’s orange grenades, which hints at Willem Dafoe’s return. On top of all these potential appearances, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are rumored to reprise their Spider-Man roles.

Now with the wake of Loki, we know that multiple timelines and realities exist within the MCU. That’s where Doctor Strange comes into play in No Way Home. In the The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, it appears that it is up to Strange to fix this debacle while Peter tries to survive all the enemies he’s faced in the past regardless if this Peter Parker has met them before.

This will be the first time seeing Doctor Strange again since Avengers: Endgame. Based off what we saw in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, this movie may be setting up Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.

Spider-Man: No Way Home directed by Jon Watts, stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange, Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and Marisa Tomei as Peter’s Aunt May. The cast also includes Alfred Molina as Doc Ock and characters from Sam Raimi and Marc Webb’s Spider-Man films are rumored to appear.
