Star Wars: The Bad Batch, the upcoming animated Lucasfilm series on Disney+, trailer was released this morning. The series is looking to continue the success of previous Star Wars Universe animated shows. The Star Wars: Clone Wars spinoff series takes place between the years of the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the Star Wars original trilogy. Lucasfilm and Disney teased a preview of Star Wars: The Bad Batch during Disney Investor Day back in December 2020. It’ll be the fourth animated series joining Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars: Resistance.

The The Bad Batch trailer shows the return of Rex and Saw Gerrera along with Fennec Shand voiced by actor Ming-Na who played the live-action version in The Mandalorian. The series will follow experimental clones, who first appeared in the last season of Star Wars: Clone Wars. The Bad Batch will find their way through the galaxy and will have to deal with the violent changes from the aftermath of the Clone Wars.

The elite group members are genetically different from one another each having a unique and exceptional skill, which makes them very effective. Especially when they work as a team. They become mercenaries trying to find a new purpose.

Agnes Chu, senior vice president of content at Disney+, said in a statement when the series was announced, “Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series. While the Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch.”

Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars) serves as executive producer. Star Wars: The Bad Batch debuts on Disney+ on May 4th.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch is part of more Star Wars Universe spinoff-shows like Star Wars: Ahsoka, Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, Book of Boba Fett, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
