WandaVision Series Finale Post-Credit Scenes Explained

Warning: Article contains spoilers from the finale.

After nine mind-bending episodes with Wanda Maximoff creating her own reality that eventually turned upside down and inside out, the WandaVision series finale gave us an epic battle of magic and sorcery. With Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) accepting her Scarlet Witch identity, she defeats Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) by casting a powerful spell. Though it may have come with a price.

The super androids, Vision (Paul Bettany) and white Vision (also Paul Bettany), with pretty much equal power, solved their quarrel with the thought experiment “Ship of Theseus”. Then with Vision sharing his memories, white Vision eventually realizes he is Vision.

Wanda finally accepted her true reality and sacrificed the happy life she had conjured up. And as the Hex closed in and disappeared, so did her twins and Vision. She stands alone on an empty lot where her house was built. We see Wanda moving on (or should we say flying away) from Westview. It was definitely an emotional ending.

Unlike the previous episodes, the finale had two post-credit scenes. One mid-credit and another at the very end, which obviously is more relevant to Wanda’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During the aftermath of Westview’s witch battle, the town has been restored to normal. With Wanda gone and Hayward being arrested, we see Monica Rambeau and Jimmy Woo having a brief discussion, which hints at him potentially having a bigger role in the MCU. An FBI agent approaches Monica and leads her inside a theater. The agent reveals herself to be Skrull and tells Monica that an old friend of her mom needs to see her up in space.

We’re presuming the Skrull is talking about Nick Fury. This likely sets up Captain Marvel 2 and maybe even the Secret Invasion series on Disney+.

Wanda has retreated to a remote cabin in the mountains. Perhaps trying to stay away from people as she learns more about her new found identity and magic. She gets up and goes inside to make tea, but the camera continues to move towards a bedroom. There we see the Scarlet Witch’s astral projection flipping through the pages of the Darkhold book.

We’ve only see this done by the Ancient One and Doctor Strange, but even them, their real bodies are incapacitated during projection. This shows again how powerful Wanda has become being able to move about in both states. This should be a clear connection to Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. Then again, fan theories weren’t quite hitting the marks with the WandaVision theories. No big cameo. No Peter Maximoff from the X-Men universe. The aerospace engineer was not Reed Richards. Sigh.

We’ll have to wait until Captain Marvel 2 and Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness to see what happens with Monica and Wanda.

Captain Marvel 2 is set to premiere November 11, 2022, while Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness is set for March 25, 2022.

The WandaVision series finale and the entire season is now streaming on Disney+.
