The WandaVision series finale is three days away and through eight episodes, fans are still left with a lot questions needing to be answered. In the previous episode, Agatha Harkness’ origin was revealed and why she was so obsessed in learning about Wanda’s powers. She finally came to the conclusion that Wanda was using chaos magic and for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Wanda was referred to her comic book persona, The Scarlet Witch. WandaVision director, Matt Shakman, recently spoke to Comicbook.com regarding the finale.
According to the interview, the massive WandaVision finale will take Scarlet Witch into Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness and will also tie into Spider-Man: No Way Home. Without giving too much away, the WandaVision director did tease what to expect and shares his hopes for the finale.
“Well, I certainly hope that people find it to be a satisfying conclusion,” Shakman tells ComicBook.com. “You know, we definitely have known the story that we want to tell from the beginning, so that sense of building towards a final moment that made sense for us from the beginning is there. So, I hope people find it both surprising, but inevitable… I hate stories that pivot, 180 at the last minute and you’re like, ‘What have I been watching this whole time?’ You know, Agatha Christie novels where the murderer is someone you just met pops in and you’re like, ‘Come on, why did I read this whole thing?'”
Through eight episodes and with the finale, WandaVision and the previous movies that featured the titular characters will all conclude, but also leave some room for more big screen stories.
“Hopefully it all feels that it’s been building momentum and snowballing towards the end,” Shakman says. “It is continuing to deal with how do you deal with grief and loss and come back from that. And then we’ve introduced some new players on the table as well, or revealed aspects of certain players on the table. So you now have two Visions on the chess board, and what does that mean? Who’s the real Vision?”
The finale’s runtime is reported to be 50 minutes long, but Shakman admitted he doesn’t know if that’s accurate. “I can’t remember the exact runtime of it.”
Let’s hope the WandaVision director doesn’t disappoint, but based off what Shakman has done with the previous episodes, we’re confident he’ll give us an epic series finale.
The WandaVision series finale premieres this Friday on Disney+.
