There’s been director’s cuts in the past. Theatrical releases being edited to add back cut scenes. But the Snydercut is unlike anything else done in the past. First, it was a viral movement by fans and eventually stars asking to “release the snyder cut.” Snyder changed Steppenwolf’s design to be more consistent from how he looked in Batman v. Superman. More money was spent just for this HBO Max re-release. Some actors were brought back to do reshoots including Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Jared Leto as the Joker from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.
Leto recently spoke with Variety about Snyder’s work. “I’ve been sworn to secrecy, but he’s an incredible filmmaker and I love his work,” Leto said. “It was cool to have the opportunity to collaborate with him. He’s got a crazy, infectious energy. I love his passion and commitment to what he does. Those are some of the reasons why fans have responded so passionately and deeply to him and his mission because he’s true to his word and really is intent on creating something special that he believes in.”
Harry Lennix will also reprise his General Swanwick role from Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman and become Martian Manhunter in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. During an interview with Comicbook.com, Lennix, like Leto, also praised Snyder. “Zack is a really good director and I think that he had some sort of a way in making his reality come to fruition by knowing how to talk to actors playing otherworldly beings and metaphysical people who were given a human form. Directing demigods, effectively.”
Mark you calendars for this Sunday — Valentine’s Day — to see the latest full trailer.
