While WandaVision has managed to surprise fans just about every episode, the biggest surprise is yet to come on the popular Disney+ series.
Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany (Wanda and Vision, respectively) and showrunner Jac Schaeffer have all hinted that a big guest is on the way—one that will have fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a frenzy.
Disney+ already owns the biggest TV twist in years with bringing Mark Hamill back to play Star Wars hero Luke Skywalker on The Mandalorian, and now WandaVision is looking to create its own buzzworthy moment.
In the last episode of WandaVision, Evan Peters appeared as his version of Pietro Maximoff, which only created more speculation among fans of the series.
Bettany has provided some hints already. He said the character is male, is an actor he’s always wanted to work with and they have “fireworks” together.
CBR.com has speculated on which of the MCU characters or new actors would create such a Luke-like buzz.
Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange
Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange tops the list, especially given that fans know Scarlet Witch will be part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, scheduled for release in 2022. The problem is Bettany made it seem like he hadn’t worked with the guest before and the two shared the screen in Avengers: Infinity War.
Ian McKellen as Magneto
Ian McKellen as Magneto is another name that is rumored to be the guest. At some point in comic lure, Magneto was canonically the father of Scarlet Witch, though it’s not the case in the current MCU. The Whizzer is another character that McKellen would be perfect for, and during the animation intro of WandaVision Episode 2, a Whizzer statuette was seen in the background. Seeing the actor pop up as either character would bring on lots of cheers from fans.
Michael Fassbender as Magneto
Michael Fassbender is an actor Bettany hasn’t worked with, and seeing the popular actor pop up as the newer Magneto would be interesting. The actor has played Magneto in the four most recent X-Men films so seeing him in the role, rather than McKellen is a possibility.
Patrick Stewart as Professor X
Some other big names that CBR has theorized include Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man or Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. All three are big-time actors and would pack a punch with a special cameo.
Still, while not on their list, if they’re really looking for a Hamill-like reception, how about Lou Ferrigno as The Incredible Hulk or Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man? Those are names that would definitely excite.
