When Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters next year, the God of Thunder will have a new look.
Thor has done away with his classic Avengers/Asgardian costume, with new photos from the set revealing he’ll be donned in something much more punk rock-inspired.
Four behind-the-scenes photos from the upcoming film, directed by Taika Waititi, were released with Thor wearing the more casual attire. His wardrobe includes a red leather vest that shows off his biceps alongside a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

But the costume is not the only thing different about Thor this time around. The images also show Thor with a hair braid and some of that early muscle mass that was missing with his appearance in Avengers: Endgame, when the hero was shown to be overweight for storyline purposes.
In the photos, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is shown with Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill/Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy, holding his magical ax Stormbreaker. He too looks a little different, as Star-Lord now has longer beard compared to previous movie entries.
The fact that the two characters are together and looking friendly suggest that things have changed since we last saw them together in the MCU. Remember, after recovering him from the ship wreckage Thanos left behind, Quill expressed some comedic jealousy toward Thor’s literal godlike physique, especially with Gamora’s reaction to his muscles.
Plus, when last we saw them together, the two were vying for leadership status aboard Star-Lord’s ship when Thor decided to travel with the Guardians.
While fans are excited about the movie, it’s still a long way off as Thor: Love and Thunder just began production in Australia. The plot is reported to borrow heavily from the 2015-2018 Mighty Thor storyline, in which Jane Foster became a female version of Thor after the Prince of Asgard was mysteriously rendered unworthy of lifting Mjolnir.
And a new villain is in toe, as Christian Bale joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Godd the God Butcher.
The movie is scheduled to be in theaters in May of 2022.
