Baby Yoda Gets a Name: The Mandalorian Reveals True Name of The Child

Baby Yoda The Child true name revealed on the Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 5

    SPOILER WARNING

Star Wars fans around the world fell in love with “Baby Yoda” when he was introduced in the premiere episode of The Mandalorian last year, but aside from knowing him as “The Child,” there wasn’t a real name associated with the adorable creature.

But in episode 5 of Season 2, The Mandalorian revealed that the real name of the extremely popular Baby Yoda is actually Grogu.

According to Comicbook.com, in the episode, entitled “The Jedi,” The Child collided with another Force-wielding character, Ahsoka Tano, who let both audiences and the Mandalorian himself know Grogu was his true name.

Since the very first episode, Grogu’s lack of speaking abilities prevented any other character from learning his real name, and surely a lot of thought went into giving him a name that resonated strong within the Star Wars universe.

After all, Baby Yoda has been the breakout character of the show, and one of the most popular Star Wars characters of all time. One only needs to look at the best-selling Christmas items this year to see how the character is all over pop culture these days.

Now, considering all those items have the name Baby Yoda or The Child, looks like the Star Wars merchandising machine will be back in play with the new name soon.

“The Jedi” also saw the live-action debut of Ahsoka Tano, the popular Star Wars: The Clone Wars character. Season 2 has definitely not been a let down for fans of the Star Wars universe and things seem to get better and more exciting every day.

Now that Baby Yoda, Grogu, has a name, it will be interesting to see how much it’s used in the story going forward. Fans are already lighting up social media with reactions and its safe to say, this is a name that’s going to be heard a lot in 2021!
