Stranger Things 5 is probably one of the most-anticipated upcoming new seasons for a tv show. Now, the first scene has been revealed.
Following the WGA strike, Stranger Things director Shawn Levy reported that The Duffer Brothers are “hard at work” and that the team is “raring to go.”
Work had begun on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things back in September. And the writer’s room account on X has been feeding fans with teasers over the years. This time, the fans got a treat when the first scene was revealed from the pages of the script when it was posted on X. See it below.
The Stranger Things 5 script reads: “DARKNESS. The sound of COLD WIND. GROANING TREES. And… A CHILD’S VOICE. Singing a familiar song:”
“Singing a familiar song?” hmmm. What could that song be?
Will it be “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush once again? Used three times in Stranger Things 4 and played a pivotal element to the plot, we wouldn’t be surprised if it is the song being sung. Could it be another song from the ’80s the series hasn’t used yet?
The little tease from the X post doesn’t reveal much of anything but it’s cool to know for fans that Stranger Things 5 is moving forward.
Though things are still up in the air, not because of Vecna’s curse, but with the SAG-AFTRA strike still going. Hopefully the two sides will come to an agreement. Even if it were to be settled this week, it would still take time to get the cast and crew together and there are no further details regarding how far along the scripts are either.
Levy recently said that “this passage of time is definitely not helping” when it comes to the younger cast being older IRL than their characters onscreen, but he also said that the show won’t use de-ageing VFX on them.
“Our hair and makeup and wardrobe department are pretty exceptional, using costumes and wigs and makeup,” he said. “The ’80s are also our friends in returning these young adult actors to their iconic Hawkins characters. So we’re going to use all the tools available to us.”
According to The Direct, Stranger Things 5 is now anticipated to have a 2025 release.
