Since Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that the MCU’s Phase 6 will be adding the Fantastic Four, fans took to social media and internet guessing and fan-casting potential actors for the role of Marvel’s superhero family. Now, we’re getting more news about a potential Fantastic Four cast.
According to Variety via The Hot Mic podcast and co-host Jeff Sneider’s Above The Line site), Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One’s Vanessa Kirby and Stranger Things standout star Joseph Quinn are the current top choices to play superhero siblings Sue and Johnny Storm.
Nothing has officially been announced by Marvel regarding the casting rumors so we’ll wait and see if Kirby and Quinn are truly going to play the roles. The sources are usually reliable though the ever-growing reports turn out to be incorrect. Sneider even corrected himself mid-show when he had The Boys‘ Jack Quaid playing Johnny aka The Human Torch. Quaid eventually debunked the Fantastic Four casting rumor via Twitter.
Kirby and Quinn could be good choices. Kirby definitely has the looks to play Sue storm and has played in key roles in actions film franchises like Mission: Impossible and The Fast Saga’s Hobbs and Shaw. Quinn became an instant fan-favorite playing Eddie Munson in Stranger Things Season 4. We’ll have to wait to see how he’ll play Johnny Storm.
Other Fantastic Four cast rumors have included Adam Driver and Matt Smith, but both have reportedly passed on the role as F4 leader Reed Richards. Sneider did mention that Ben Grimm/The Thing has been cast but the actor has not been revealed. The Bear’s Ebon Mos-Bachrach is also being seriously considered for an unknown role.
When Kirby spoke to Comicbook.com while promoting Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, she played coy about potentially playing Sue storm by only saying, “it would be an honor.”
Until Marvel makes Kirby and Quinn official, these are all just Fantastic Four cast rumors. What we do know is that Matt Shackman (Marvel’s WandaVision, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Game of Thrones) is directing the Fantastic Four reboot with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer penning the script.
Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025.
