After the underwhelming end to the sequel trilogy with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans were left with a bad taste in their mouth. Fortunately, with the collaborative minds of Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Deborah Chow, The Mandalorian series and the entire live-action Star Wars Universe is in good hands. At this years, D23 Expo, Lucasfilm released The Mandalorian Season 3 trailer and other upcoming projects.
Here’s what’s coming up for The Mandalorian Season 3 and other Lucasfilm projects announced at D23 Expo.
The Mandalorian Season 3
The Mandalorian Season 3 follows the events of The Book of Boba Fett. Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) was featured in the miniseries that centered on iconic bounty hunter. We see Grogu choosing to return to Din Djarin after previously training with Jedi Master Luke Skywalker.
Grogu and the Mandalorian left Tatooine to go on a quest to visit “the living waters” under the planet Mandalore where he can regain his honor and become a Mandalorian again. He’ll face many obstacles on his journey with the The Mandalorian Season 3 trailer teasing a battle between Din Djarin and others of his kind. You can check out the trailer below.
Andor
Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy brought the cast of Andor to the D23 Expo stage including Diego Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly, Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgård, Forest Whitaker and Kyle Soller. The Andor trailer, which debuted online, is just a tease of what Expo audiences saw live.
Andor season 1 will have 12 episodes, followed by a second season that is already in development. It will also have 12 episodes and is rumored to lead directly into Rogue One. Andor starts September 21, 2022 on Disney+. Check out the latest Andor trailer below.
Lucasfilm’s Willow Series
Once a feature film in 1988 starring Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer (Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick), Willow is back as a new series on Disney+. The sequel fantasy adventure will see the return of Davis as Willow, Joanne Whalley, Dempsey Bryk, Erin Kellyman, Amar Chadha-Patel, Tony Revolori, Ellie Bamber, and Ruby Cruz.
The Willow cast was also featured at D23 Expo while fans were treated with a short teaser followed by a trailer. Willow premieres November 30, 2022 on Disney+. Check out the trailer below.
Tales of the Jedi
Star Wars: The Clone Wars creator Dave Filoni graced the D23 Expo audience and was met with loud applause. He shared the Tales of the Jedi trailer. The anthology series will feature Mace Windu, Count Dooku, Yoda, Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, and more.

The Bad Batch Season 2
Filoni also announced that The Bad Batch Season 2 is finally coming. The second season was set to hit the streaming platform in the fall but now will star January 4, 2023. It’ll premiere with the first two episodes and will consist of 16 total episodes for season 2.
Ahsoka
Joining Filoni onstage was Jon Favreau. Both spoke about the Ahsoka series. Favreau shared a heartfelt speech with the audience about how much he loved working on Star Wars every single day.
A photo of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka was shown and Filoni also revealed the first look at Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) in the series. The Ahsoka series cast also stars Eman Esfandi, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakho, Ray Stevenson, and Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka is set to hit Disney+ sometime in 2023.
Skeleton Crew
Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts took the stage with actor Jude Law. Watts, creator of Skeleton Crew, gave tidbits of the series but not much. The series is a coming-of-age story that will take place in the New Republic. Skeleton Crew is currently filming.
