Kate Bush finally shares a statement regarding her song “Running Up That Hill” receiving a massive boost to the number one spot on iTunes since the premiere of Stranger Things Season 4. Her song played an important part in one of the episodes and became an essential element the rest of Season 4’s Volume 1.

“Running Up That Hill” helped Max (Sadie Sink) escape the clutches of Vecna, season 4’s big baddie from the Upside Down. A little over a week later, Kate Bush shared a statement from her newsletter expressing gratitude for her song being included in the Stranger Things latest season. Now, Kate Bush has seen another bump at the charts. “Running Up That Hill” has sprinted to second place in the U.K. charts chasing Harry Styles’ No. 1 hit “As It Was.”

The hit song first released in 1985 from the album Hounds of Love and is one of Kate Bush’s most popular songs. Being that Stranger Things Season 4 is now set in 1986, “Running Up That Hill” fits well with the Netflix show’s setting and vibe while giving an additional homage to the era.

    Kate Bush Full Statement Reads:

“You might’ve heard that the first part of the fantastic, gripping new series of ‘Stranger Things’ has recently been released on Netflix. It features the song, ‘Running Up That Hill’ which is being given a whole new lease of life by the young fans who love the show – I love it too! Because of this, Running Up That Hill is charting around the world and has entered the UK chart at No. 8. It’s all really exciting! Thanks very much to everyone who has supported the song. I wait with bated breath for the rest of the series in July.”

Stranger Things Season 4 picks up six months after the events of the third season’s finale. The core friend group finds themselves separated for the first time since the start of the series. As they the young teens struggle to navigate through one of their biggest challenges yet, adolescence and high school, a new supernatural creature from the Upside Down surfaces giving the town of Hawkins another gruesome mystery to be solved.

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Volume 2 will premiere July 1 with the last two episodes of the season. A fifth and final season of Stranger Things has been announced but no further details have been given.
