Thor: Love and Thunder star recently told fans that the new trailer for his 4th solo Marvel film “is gonna blow your mind.” Now fans can see for themselves when they see the new teaser that premiered during Monday’s NBA playoff game between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.
Marvel Studios announced the title for Thor: Love and Thunder during 2019’s San Diego Comic-Con. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, also announced that Natalie Portman will be returning to the Thor franchise since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World.
Thor: Love and Thunder will find Portman’s Jane Foster taking on the mantle of Mighty Thor. Tessa Thompson returns as Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame. The new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer reveals newcomers Russell Crowe as Zeus and Christian Bale as the film’s villain Gorr the God Butcher. Love and Thunder will also feature the Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan.
Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi returns to helm Love and Thunder. Waititi has put a different look and tone to the Thor franchise and so far have made fans happy. He has been a key part of the Disney family where he has acted and directed projects for the studio such as episodes for The Mandalorian. It has been reported that Waititi will direct a Star Wars feature film. He continues to show his talent in the new Thor: Love and Thunder trailer.
This film will make Chris Hemsworth the first Marvel star to headline a solo film four times. Hemsworth’s Thor last appeared in Avengers: Endgame back in 2019 which introduced fans to a Thor who fell to depression after failing to stop Thanos. The first Love and Thunder teaser, which debuted in April, revealed Thor trying to get his life back on track (and back in shape) but also seemed to have given up the superhero life.
Thor: Love and Thunder premieres this summer on July 8, 2022. Watch the new trailer below:
