Paramount Pictures is dealing with its own mission right now — cracking down on the Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One trailer that reportedly leaked on social media this weekend. The Tom Cruise film isn’t set to release until next year. Several Twitter accounts shared the apparently-leaked trailer but by the end of Saturday, most videos were taken down after copyright infringement reports were filed by Paramount.
The Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One trailer was screened last month at CinemCon in Las Vegas but has not been released to the public. Paramount, until now, has no idea how or where the trailer was leaked from, but the studio was quick to act and contain the situation. Many of the tweets with the video have been disabled and marked with “a report by the copyright owner.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Paramount Pictures does not appear to have officially released the two-minute spot online. Representatives for the studio did not immediately respond to multiple requests for comment.”
Description of the footage teased the Tom Cruise film as another stunt-filled action flick that included Cruise’s Ethan Hunt holding onto a plane as it flies over a South African canyon and a cliff jump in Norway. The stunts even terrified co-star Simon Pegg.
There has been times when movie trailers have been shortly followed-up by an official trailer release not too long after being leaked. It happened with Spider-Man: No Way Home.
