The new Doctor Strange 2 trailer shoes Wanda destroying what seems to be an Ultron bot while attacking the Illuminati base.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will feature the return of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff teaming up with Doctor Steven Strange played by Benedict Cumberbatch. Wanda’s comeback comes after the reality-bending limited-series WandaVision, where we see her character become more powerful than ever when she transforms into the Scarlet Witch.
Marvel Unleashes The Scarlet Witch in new Doctor Strange 2 Trailer
There’s been a lot of fan speculation surrounding Wanda in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Various footage has either teased Wanda helping the rest of the heroes or showing glimpses of her looking pretty villainous. Whichever she is, it looks like Wanda will go full Scarlet Witch mode and unleash her power one way or another.
Marvel Studios officially released a new Doctor Strange 2 trailer showing off new footage of Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. The 30-second promo reveals a couple of new shots from the MCU film, including a glimpse of Wanda’s red eyes.
Scarlet Witch vs. Everyone The Multiverse
Based on the new Doctor Strange 2 trailer, it appears that the sequel will showcase how powerful Scarlet Witch can be against anyone who stands in her way.
The footage of Wanda attacking the Illuminati headquarters has been a big part of Marvel’s marketing for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Not much plot details have been released about the film, but there are two potential scenarios for this scene.
Early footage has shown Doctor Strange and America Chavez held captive by the Illuminati. So maybe Wanda is breaking them out by attacking some Ultron bots inside the headquarters. She could be hunting down Doctor Strange and the Illuminati is actually offering the master of the mystic arts and Chavez protection from Wanda.
Plenty of scenes suggest that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will introduce familiar faces as members of the Illuminati like Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier. There also have been rumors that Tom Cruise will make an appearance as a version Tony Stark in his Superior Iron Man suit.
In an interview with Fandango, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Sony’s Spider-Man Trilogy with Tobey Maguire) shared his thoughts about Wanda when he was asked who was more powerful in the movie — Doctor Strange or Scarlet Witch:
“Wow. That’s a question I’ve been asking kids on the playground since third grade. Who is stronger, this character or that character? Well, I think Wanda’s magic, from Marvel lore, is more powerful than almost any of the other characters in this picture, but Doctor Strange has the knowledge of the mystic arts that Wanda doesn’t have, and he’s got the help of Kamar-Taj,” said the director. If you were to pit them against each other, different altered versions of themselves … there could be a Doctor Strange out there that’s more powerful than our Wanda. Or there could be a Wanda out there who is more powerful than our Wanda here. So, because of these altered versions, it’s all a mixed bag of possibilities,” added Raimi.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness comes to our reality this May 5th in theaters only. You can watch the new trailer below.
