Moon Knight Episode 3 begins with Layla trying to obtain a fake passport to head off to Egypt. She mentions during the creation of her passport that she needs to make sure Marc stays out of trouble and get the scarab. The woman making her ID slightly sympathizes as she works.
As the passport is printed, the woman mentions it’s a nasty business of theft. Layla stresses she’s not stealing what’s already stolen when it comes to artifacts that she intends to return to their rightful place. However, she does mention she keeps a few on the side to pay the bills.
The woman, Lagaro, talks about Layla’s father. She reluctantly talks about Layla’s loss and her complicit nature in aiding with Layla’s adventure. With her passport created, Layla is off to Egypt.
Moon Knight Episode 3 Continues In Egypt
Moon Knight Episode 3 continues in Egypt. Arthur is using the scarab to find the site of the temple with his dozens of traveling companions. He finally arrives at the desired location and is ecstatic to have found it. One of Arthur’s minions states that Marc is already in Cairo and not far behind them.
Inside Cairo, Marc dashes across rooftops in search of a man with info on Arthur’s dig site. However, gangsters have already stabbed the contact to death. Marc then engages in combat with the knife-wielding trio of gangsters.
The fight of much punching and swiping of blades is cut off mid-fight when Steven speaks to Marc. He pleads with Steven, through the reflection of a knife blade, not to kill. Marc then blacks out and awakens in a taxi. Now Marc is blacking out in Moon Knight episode 3.
When Marc takes back control of the body, he asks where he is being taken. The driver says the airport. Marc exits the taxi when he spots two of the three gangsters he was fighting earlier.
While Marc says he only wants to talk, the two gangsters flee from him in a chase through the streets of Cairo. Marc manages to corner one and interrogate to see if he knows where Harrow is. Steven pleads for him to stop and a distracted Marc is knocked out.
Marc then awakens to having stabbled the two gangsters on a rooftop. Marc asks why Steven killed, not being in his nature. Steven stresses it wasn’t him and Marc asks who.
The remaining gangsters struggles in pain. While Marc asks this last man where the tomb is located, Khonshu interupts. He tells Marc to take the man to the ledge and dangle him off as an intimidation tactic.
Marc does so and asks where Harrow is. The gangster, however, only states “praise Ammit” before cutting the scarf he was hanging from, falling to his death. Khonshu merely gives an intrigured shrug, stating he thought that would make him talk.
Marc asks what’s wrong with Steven for allowing the chase to end so violently. Steven, flustered, stresses that Marc should maybe start listening to “that stupid pigeon” referring to Khonshu. Marc bitterly tells Steven to stay out of his way as he tries to find another way.
Trying to find a new way of getting to the tomb, Marc asks Khonshu if there’s a way to contact the other ancient gods. Khonshu says it’s possible but calling an audience could bring about the wraith of the gods. He says that if they’re angered enough, they may entomb Khonshu and Marc would have to fight Arthur Harrow without his powers.
With no other alternatives, Marc asks for ideas. Khonshu says he has a bad one and disappears. The moon then begins to block out the sun. When Marc asks when Khonshu is doing, he says he’s sending the gods a signal they can’t ignore.
The eclipse attracts the attention of Arthur, noting that the “old bird” is getting desparate. Arthur then tells his companions to hurry up with their digging at the site. He briefly mentions he’s about to be summoned.
Marc Spector Meets The Gods
In Moon Knight episode 3, Marc is led by Khonshu to a portal for a meeting to the gods. The walls open up to reveal it. Khonshu stresses that failing to make a case against Arthur will result in punishment.
Khonshu also mentions the last case he had resulted in banishment. Marc then enters the portal on his own. Khonshu says he’ll follow.
As Marc walks into the ceremony room, Steven remarks that they’re actually inside the pyramid of Giza. The hall is filled with ancient statues, stones, sand, and fire.
The various avatars of the gods enter the room. Marc meets Yatzil, Avatar of Hator, godess of music and love. She asks if Khonshu mentioned her as an old friend and Marc states that gods are not exactly Khonshu’s favorite topic.
The other avatars call to attention the trial. Yatzil then instructs Marc on how to handle the trial. She describes it as a weird experience that he’ll soon get used to if he just goes with the flow.
Yatzil ascends the stairs to the other avatars and Hator takes control of her body. The other gods in attendance via their avatars are Horus, Isis, Tefnut, and Osiris. The gods state they are quite angry with Khonshu’s recent activities.
After they mention Khonshu’s moon showcase would earn him another punishment if performed again, Khonshu snaps back through Marc’s body briefly, stating that the gods have abandoned humanity. The gods argue against this and how their avatars are useful.
Khonshu, heavy on theatrics, bitterly argues that avatars are not enough. The gods then state they want to keep out of human affairs. With the god versus man argument tabled, Khonshu then states his case against Arthur Harrow for conspiracy to release Ammit.
The gods then summon the accused. Through one of the portals, Arthur enters the temple. Arthur is calm in his entrance, admitting he doesn’t miss Khonshu’s voice.
When Khonshu makes his case, Arthur plays dumb by saying it is not a crime to visit the sands of Egypt. Though Khonshu argues Arthur is lying, Arthur simply states that Khonshu is a shamed god who cannot be trusted. He brings up how Khonshu is dangerous and his avatar is unwell, having an identity crisis.
Arthur stresses how Khonshu’s avatar is mentally insane. Khonshu attempts to punch Arthur for such slander but is stopped by the magic of the gods. The gods stress they won’t tolerate violence in their chamber.
Arthur then brings up that Khonshu is abusing Marc the same way he abused him. The council then decides to speak with Marc Spector specifically. They ask him directly if he’s unwell.
Marc admits he’s unwell with fear in his voice. While Marc tries to fight for Khonshu’s case, the gods ask if Marc feels exploited by Khonshu, bringing up how this is a safe space to speaks of such harassment. Marc tries to stay on point and stress how dangerous Arthur is to the world.
The council doesn’t believe Khonshu and conclude the trial. As the avatars leave, Marc collapses to the floor in disbelief that he failed. Yatzil, however, gives Marc another option.
She speaks with him about Ammit having secrets buried and hidden from the gods. She brings up a medjay called Senfu who would record location of the tomb. If Marc can find Senfu’s sarcophagus, he may be able to find Ammit’s tomb.
When Marc asks where to find this sacrophagus, she tells him it was sold on the black market. Marc then proceeds to search through the streets of Cairo for someone who might know something. As he purchases some juice from a street seller, he brings up Senfu and the seller gives him a shocked look before leaving.
Marc and Layla Look Look For The Map To Ammit’s Tomb
Just then, Layla arrives on the scene. Marc is surprised but also fearful of having Layla present amid Khonshu. Layla says she’ll help Marc finds what he needs.
During a boat trip at night, the two discuss their troubled history. Marc is hoping Layla will place their differences aside to stop Arthur. They agree to keep things strictly business, as Marc concludes this topic with an apology.
Layla brings up Mogart, a man who has a collection that may contain the Senfu sacrophagus he seeks. As Layla brings up her contacts, the topic of their marriage comes up again. Layla bitterly brings up how Marc should’ve addressed Steven.
Marc stresses how he had it under control until recently. Layla, more sympathetic, says he could’ve come to her to ask for help. Honesty becomes a key topic that could have saved their relationship, to which Marc says it’s too late.
The boat soon arrives at a party for Mogart. As they prepare for their operation with Marc adopting a different name, they notice a strange boat off the shore. Layla asks if it’s Harrow’s men and Marc isn’t sure.
The two enter the party and approach a ring for a horse competition, staging El-Mermah games. Layla meets with Beck, an acquaintance who leads both Lyla and Marc to Mogart. Layla and Marc then meet him after he dismounts his horse.
Layla introduces Marc as her husband but with a different name. As they walk, Mogart stresses how much he appreciates and wants to preserve history. He then asks why there’s such interest in Senfu but poses the question specifically to Marc.
Marc sheepishly says he wants to take a look. Morgat finds Marc funny but grants him access. Marc and Layla then proceed to study the sacrophagus and its details of the cloth inside. As they do, Layla tells Marc to let Steven out if he needs to, considering he’s more of an expert on Egyptian history.
Layla says the sacrophagus looks legit. Steven through a reflection says the info on the sacrophagus is encypted and needs to be unlocked. While Marc asks for Steven to give him the info he needs, Steven stresses that he needs control of the body to make this happen.
A reluctant Steven says he’ll walk Marc through the process of unlocking the secrets. The cloths inside are folded and start matching up as star charts. Just as Marc comes close to unlocking the secrets, Marc is cornered at gunpoint by Mogart’s men.
Layla stresses that they’re trying to save lives but Mogart doesn’t believe him. Marc urges Mogart to look at what he’s done with the cloth and the map he’s unlocked. That examination is halted, however, when Arthur and his men arrive.
Arthur comes with a counteroffer while holding the scarab. While Layla pleads for Mogart not to trust Arthur, Arthur says that Layla has been lied to. He sows distrust within Layla and Marc once more, bringing up a dark secret he has yet to reveal.
Arthur then approaches Mogart with his glowing cane and says he offers proof of Ammit’s tomb being real. Khonshu, inside Marc’s head, urges him to summon the suit. The lights flicker as Arthur uses his magic with his cane to show Mogart the true power of the gods that he is offering.
Marc Summons Moon Knight
As Arthur leaves, Marc has now summoned the suit of Moon Knight. A fight breaks out between Moon Knight and Mogart’s men, with Layla trying to gather the essential parts of Senfu’s sacrophagus. Moon Knight shows off his bulletproove cape and his sharp crescent moon blade during the fight.
During the violence, Steven pleads for Marc not to kill. Steven then demands the body and takes over as Mr. Knight. Steven’s superhero form calls for everybody to be calm. This does not work, as Mr. Knight is stabbed twice, leading to Steven easily reliquishing the body back to Marc for Moon Knight’s powers.
Layla engages in combat with one of Mogart’s men while Moon Knight is pierced by weapons. Layla wins her fight and comes to Moon Knight’s aid with a pistol. However, she is stricken by Mogart and an enraged Moon Knight gets more violent.
Mogart and Moon Knight engage in combat. Moon Knight saves Layla and then kills Mogart. The two of them flee the scene while Khonshu states “Tick tock, Marc.”
During a drive away from the scene, Layla brings up what Arthur said about secrets. Marc tells her not to read into it as Arthur is a deciever. As Layla presses him for info, Marc says there’s no secrets but she doesn’t believe him.
When Layla says she feels like she doesn’t understand him, Marc says she’s right. She doesn’t know everything about him. It’s at that time Marc realizes he might not know everything about himself.
Arthur’s men follow Marc and Layla as they drive to decipher the map from the sacrophagus. Marc grows frustrated, saying it could take forever to find this secret location. Layla says Marc should let Steven take control but Marc is fearful to do so, unsure if Steven would relinquish the body again.
Steven Grant Assembles The Map To Amity’s Tomb
Reluctantly, Steven takes over. Getting down to business, Steven goes to work getting the map assembled. Layla then addresses Marc’s body as Steven and Steven simply goes into revealing how the map comes together as a star.
Once it’s assembled, Steven discovers the pinpricks in the material that reveal star charts. Though Layla attempts to scan the map to find the coordinates, Steven says that won’t work. The chart was made 2,000 years ago and the stars were much different then, meaning the map is out of date and could send them in the wrong direction.
Khonshu Turns Back The The Night Sky In Moon Knight Episode 3
Khonshu, however, brings up that he has a way to find those stars. He uses his magic to turn back the night sky to make it appear as it did 2,000 years ago. This magic comes at a heavy risk, however, as it will result in Khonshu’s banishment.
As Mr. Knight, Steven turns back the sky with blinding magic to the point where the stars were far different. Layla, with her tablet, scans the stars and finds the right coordinates. Arthur observes this magic from his car, remarking that Khonshu has sealed his fate.
In Moon Knight episode 3, the council uses their powers to trap Khonshu while he uses this magic. Layla finishes the coordinates just as Khonshu is imprisoned in an Egyptian miniature statue. Steven, winded by this magic, falls to the sandy ground unconscious.
Arthur meets with the gods who say he was right about Khonshu. With Khonshu imprisoned, Arthur speaks to him through his statue. He admits he once took joy in the pain that he caused as Khonshu’s avatar but that it was a sin. He admits that it showed him the value of healing.
Arthur holds Khonshu in his hand and bitterly speaks with the god. He says that he will finish what he started, having been forged by Khonshu’s evil. He ends by stating “I owe my victory to you.”
